“Don’t shake their hands. It’s not part of the Nepali culture to shake hands and could come across as disrespectful. Instead, place your palms together in front of you, bow your head, and say namaste. It means, the divine in me sees the divine in you.”
“Got it,” I said. “I love that greeting.”
Standing in the lobby of the school clinic, I looked out through the front window where the Himalaya’s were in sight towering over a dusty Kathmandu.
“Mr. Logan,” said a voice from behind me.
Turning, I saw a man approach me wearing the traditional Dhaka topi hat.
Placing my hands together, I started to bow my head. “Nama—”
“It is so great to meet you,” he said, sticking his hand out towards mine before gripping it in a firm shake. “Welcome to Nepal, I see you.”
